Look through my eyes, follow my steps along the Devil’s Roof. The result of lust, greed and power; a desire to succeed are the motivations of Rico Paysos. His story begins in the South Bronx, Little Puerto Rico. A child born of Bacardi and Angostura. A young Paysos was surrounded by music, Michael Jackson, Tito Puente, Smokey Robinson, Mighty Sparrow could be sending vibrations through his home at any moment. When the roller coaster of life peaked and swooped, music grew to be his crutch and inspiration. Broken home, broken soul, lost in the struggle, single mom working three jobs, full time mother with a rebel for a son. Rico wandered through the street found ways to use it as a natural resource. He learned about people, friends and snakes, teachers, and thugs, he learned about fast money and grew to admire the bad guys. Paysos became prone to being paid. More money, more women, more nice things, more power, how can you not love money. In his hunt for more money and power, he became a child of the ghetto.
In Junior High School he began making music, one kid banging on lunch tables for the bass line, while another beat boxed, and Rico kicked the flow. From TDK cassettes and boom box recorders, to protools and soundproof booths, Paysos ended up in the home of Johnny “Juice” Rosado of Public Enemy. Platinum Plaques on the wall is the first thing Rico remembers, wondering why they give a million records a silver plate. Love at first sight, Rico saw his first love a platinum record. Young and talented in the playground of legends, Rico forfeited it for the street, caught a case, cause of that lust of the underground. Rico says “Big defined my happiness, Damn right I like the life live cause I went from negative to positive and its all good.” He came home, went to college, groomed his talent, got a degree, made his momma proud, continued chasing his dream. In 2004, Rico started ForTheLoveOfMoney Inc, Music & Publishing Group. He has since released several projects: Child Rising In Poverty, “Dopeboyfresh” hosted by Big Face Gary, “Sour D & Goose” hosted by DJ Envy & Rico Paysos, “Swervy Derby Marathon” hosted by DJ Vlad. He has sold over 75,000 independent physical copies, archived over 50,000 downloads in the last 3 months, has been featured on over 30 mixtapes and over 100 websites, as well as being recognized by several hip hop publications (The Source, Rap Fanatic, Drahma, etc.). Rico has achieved over 1.4 million plays on his myspace page (myspace.com/ricopaysos), performed along with legendary and mainstream artist like Public Enemy, Bobby Valentino, Trey Songz, Busta Rhymes, to name a few.
Lust, greed, and power, his drive, the pusher, push it to the limit. Rico Paysos has been featured on over 100 websites and blogs, his presence on the internet is incredible, as well as being recognized by several hip-hop publications. Much success accompanied by merging FortheLoveOfMoney & Tawags Enterprises.
